Bedouins of Jericho

Bedouins of Jericho was shot in the Bedouin gatherings of Khan al-Ahmar and al-Nuweima on the outskirts of Jerusalem and Jericho in the occupied West Bank. The video details the multidimensional and particularized relationship of each Bedouin community with the land alongside the equally multifaceted strategies employed by the Israeli settlers and military to restrict and disrupt that relationship. In disrupting that relationship, the hope is to undermine the economic, spatial, social and spiritual fabric of each Bedouin community’s life and identity. Bedouins of Jericho is an effort to profile these Bedouin communities as well as their worldview, histories, ways of life, and finally their steadfast and dignified struggle to maintain themselves and their societies into the future. Bedouins of Jericho is part of a larger multi-media research project called “The Native and the Refugee”.
